Solutions are like keys in locks...
...They don't work if they don't fit!

One of the most important tasks of an employer is making sure people know how to do their job. That's because failure to train people properly can result in lost time, poor products or service, unhappy customers and sometimes even injury or death.

Your Training program will only be effective if your people develop the proven skills presented in this workshop and practice them often.  The “How To Train People On The Job Workshop is a proven program that will get results. Participants are actively involved in developing these skills through out the workshop.

The “How to Train People On The Job” is a Hands-on workshop that teaches your trainers how to effectively apply the four-step model. This workshop shows your participants how to set up and implement a program of structured OJT including analyzing the process and developing training materials.

This ALERA workshop is built on the premise that learning sticks longer when the trainee becomes involved. Our hands-on approach workshop involves the trainee with planning his or her training, making suggestions, asking questions, answering questions--and doing rather than just listening or observing.

Start building your own Performance-Based Training Program before the workshop is over. Your participants will begin conducting a Job/Task Analysis and identify the jobs and tasks that will require training. They will also begin developing trainer's guides for those tasks.

"We had a train the trainer program here a few years ago and I was expecting a similar program. In the last class, they taught us how to train using examples that did not fit the way we do things here. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this class was different – our instructor had us working on real life examples from our plant. We used tasks from our jobs to practice instructing others in the four-step method."

"This class showed me that there was a proper structure to be followed to communicate information about the job and tasks to be performed by the new hire. I feel that I have a lot of new tools that will help my trainees do a better job right from the start. I had been using shadow training before this class, I now know that this is not very effective and I will begin using the four step method."

The Basis for Our Workshop Design

Training is a method - learning is the result.  If no learning takes place, training is a waste of time and money.

Our focus, therefore, is to provide every opportunity for the trainee to learn.

The trainer and the trainee, together, control the training.  The purpose of training is to provide learning.  Learning, in turn, leads to improved performance.

During Performance, more learning takes place.  Employees will continue to learn and continue to improve their performance…

"I especially like this workshop because it helped open my mind as to what is possible when training new hires. When I trained new hires in the past I expected it to take much longer for them to learn the job. We learned how to create successful job performance from the first day.  This workshop provided some great tools to use that will improve how new trainees use our machinery. It is a BETTER way to train."
